Friendships of Roma People
The study of friendship among the Roma population is particularly interesting because of the specific ethnic content of the word friend. For them, the term friend refers only to people of Hungarian ethnicity, while Roma friends are regarded by Roma people as their brothers and sisters. In the Roma community, everyone is a brother and a friend. As long as they do not betray trust (Kovai 2018).
For disadvantaged ethnic groups, especially those living in closed communities, personal relationships are important and valuable resources that can play a significant role in counteracting social disadvantage.
